Naked Statistics. Stripping the Dread from the Data. [Conspect I]

Introduction

The important ideas that described into the book:
  1. Don't important if you haven't high result from school program;
  2. If you like natural science more - it's not bad too;
  3. Possible to show difficult idea into the simple example for many peoples (Monty Hall show');
  4. Peoples can understand basic ideas of statistics without specific education;
  5. Statistics occurs into the life many times;
  6. High mathematics is not difficult if you can get simple examples and understand how to use it into the life;
  7. The target of the book is show important statistical' conceptions for peoples whose learn it into the difficult environment or if they like numeric' magic;
  8. Methods by statistics isn't easy to understanding, but it's possible with diligent learning;
  9. Need to do calculate very accuracy it's important;
  10. Need to do conclusions very accuracy it's important;
  11. Today, people can do it so easy with computers;
  12. The book has been designed to introduce the statistical concepts with the most relevance to everyday life.
Andrejs Dunkels: It’s easy to lie with statistics, but it’s hard to tell the truth without them.

Conclusion: Statistics can understand where is lie where is truth. If I know where they are - I'll can do right chose between them. Then better quality of my work - then quality of my result will be better. It's  equal of right conclusions and right deals;

What's the Point?

I. Descriptive statistic

  1. About single variables that include many information and their essence is determine into the formula;
  2. It's really works for comparison values where each value include many data;
  3. List of some variables by one formula is base for conclusions. For example, list of only two variable that is minimum for to do it: Gini index of Sweden is .25 in 1992 to .23 in 2005 say that income  change to more equal over that period;
  4. Descriptive statistic implies some loss of nuance or detail, but it isn't problem because these variables isn't universality for all tasks and conclusions;

II. Statistical sample

  1. Statistical sample as path of large data amount that isn't possible or expensive to collect;
  2. Result is very accuracy if sample is right;

III. Assessing Risk and Other Probability-Related Events

  1. Effective using into: casino, business, insurance, scam finding;
  2. Balance between risk and profit in the casino based on the probability of the winners and losers, possible cash values and long term play;
  3. Into the scam finding author show example how it's based not only historical data, he say about logical expressions by specific environment. It's can replace spaces in the historical data, but it can be a source of mistakes, if expressions isn't truth (We have contradiction in the future);

IV. Identifying Important Relationships (Statistical Detective Work)

  1. About smoking and cancer;
  2. Statistics analyze as an investigators job;
  3. Regressive analyze is method to get relationship between two variables and save information about their affect for the based variables;
  4. In the statistic relationship between two variables is numeric and based on the statistics data. And also opposite direction chance that is only coincidence (R = N, OD = M%);
  5. “Statistically significant” is about relationship than it's really statistically truth;
  6. What's the Point? To get answers for our questions;
My notes

Conclusion: Important to do it accuracy and on the high quality level. We are never can't get perfect result as absolute true of false;
